Directory of inspiring activity holidays and creative short breaks from around the world What inspired you to launch your own website? Several years working as a tourism manager and with the local creative community When did you launch your first website, and what was it? January 2008 - www.inspiringholidays.com How did you decide on a name for your website? A flash of inspiration! (no pun intended) What makes it different from other, similar offerings? It's clear, easily navigable and advertising is kept to a minimum What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?) The aim is to grow the site, increase the holidays listed and make some money How does your investment of time and money balance against your success? It's going ok so far If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site? More automation, more content management, more advertising If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand? Probably not! What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with? Main headaches involved included delays getting the site launched and the time taken to get properly indexed by seach engines. What has been your biggest challenge? Turning the idea into reality What method has been most successful for promoting your website? Google adwords How has running your website differed from your expectations? Running the website is fine but working on my own has taken some adjustment How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity? The site has been up and runing since Jan 2008. I'm pleased with visitor numbers so far but let's see how it goes Would you do it agin - pack in your well paid job & go it alone Yes!
