www.lamugaholidays.com Interview

By Interviewer at 01/27/09 14:17

Name of your website?

www.lamugaholidays.com

Your name?

Lara Froom

Your Location (city, etc)

Girona

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The website offers guided walking holidays from our villa in St Llorenc de la Muga, Catalunya, Spain. We cater for all ages and abilities and also offer daytrips around the local area. We are very flexible as want our guests to be able to have the holiday they want. We have a selection of walks to choose from starting with short rambles to all day hikes. A babysitting service is also available if required.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We have enjoyed the walks around our home and wanted to combine something we enjoy with work. We feel we have a lot to show others and would enjoy taking them away from the tourist routes to show them places most visitors don't get to see. Familly and friends have enjoyed walking with us and we hope other people would do too.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

We launched this website, our first at the end of 2008

How did you decide on a name for your website?

After many discussions with friends, familly and among ourselves.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It is family run and very flexible. We do not have a fixed itinery, our guests can choose for themselves where to walk and for how long, they can also take day trips as an alternative if they choose. We only ever cater for one party at a time and we have tried to keep the costs down as much as possible. We,as locals, think we can show people the real Catalunya which is often not seen by tourists.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To build it up enough so that we can survive on the income it brings in and in time let our children take more active roles if they want to.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Is too early to say yet.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None

What has been your biggest challenge?

Mastering the internet!

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Is a lot more to it than I ever imagined!

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have run the site for a couple of months and hope to keep running it indefinately.

Have you enjoyed setting up and running the site?

Yes but due to my lack of experiance it can be VERY frustrating!

What is your website address?
