Rural tourism in Picos de Europa Asturias Interview

By Interviewer at 09/15/07 10:35

Name of your website?

Rural tourism in Picos de Europa Asturias

Your name?

Alto Sella

Your Location (city, etc)

Asturias Picos de Europa

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The Alto Sella Tourism Association assembles a series of tourism proffesionals and other activities from the Picos de Europa region. All of them offer you the neccessary information to coordinate lodgings, routes, excursions, activities, and events; also for the visitors to enjoy their stay the best they could.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our association presents the Alto Sella area as the best destiny for quick trips or long journeys, situating it inside the Picos de Europa National Park, in a perfect and focal point to know and discover the existing charms from Riaņo Valley to Arriondas, Cangas de Onis and Ponga: offering the best, closer.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

A natural Asturias full of life and beauty will marvel us from the inside of the Amieva region to a few minutes distance.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The landscape shaped by Cornion Massif, rivers Sella, Dobra, and Ponga, the prairies surrounding the mountain passes and a diverse and plentiful fauna constitute a tourist destination full of tradition, culture and quality desirable to the eyes of the visitors an even to ours.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The first National Park in Spain, called Montaņa de Covadonga in 1918 thanks to Don Pedro Pidal, and Picos de Europa National Park, from 1995, is shaped by three young and calcareous mountains known as Cornion, Urrieles and Andara (Western, central and eastern respectively) that are almost 65 thousand hectares square...

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

At this place we invite you to discover general information about Amieva rural lodgings, and then a detiled description of each one. We only present establishments registered in the Tourism Council that offer the professional attitude we demand to maintain quality in Amieva and Picos de Europa.

Replace this with a question of your own

Each one of the massives presents shared characteristics whith the other ones and exclusive of itself, from the rough and steep Central Massif to the soft altitudes and prairies of the Eastern one, not forgeting the Cornion, the most extensive and varied of the three. It presents beech, oak and heather forests, green pastures and serious altitudes as Peņa Santa de Castila, Torre de Santa Maria, Requexon...It is bordered by three rivers: Sella, Dobra, and Cares. In this Cornion Massif Amieva occupies an important area of The Picos de Europa National Park, presenting the most southern entrance to it: the Angon Valley
