Name of your website?

Rooms in York

Your name?

Niall Buchanan

Your Location (city, etc)

Fort Augustus

Please give us a short summary of your website?

It is an accommodation based website with a good selection of Hotels, Hostels, Guest Houses and Bed and Breakfast accommodation in York.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have launched similar websites which i launched in Scotland and i decided to expand into England with Rooms in York being the first of a group of English websites planned.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched Rooms in Scotland a couple of years ago

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I looked at available domain names and tied it into my chain of "rooms in" websites, i wanted to develop a site for a major city in England and Rooms in York was available.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It has an excellent layout which i think is easy to use for both expert and novice users of the internet.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To continue to expand my chain of websites and move into other countries around the world.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It has taken a lot of time in the inital development stage and marketing which has not paid of yet, but that is always the case with a brand new website. You always have to wait a while to see a return on your investment.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

The way in which the webiste is structured a high demand for accommodation would not be a problem to keep up with.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challange is getting traffic to the site, which can be achived through SEO and advertising and then of course converting that traffic into sales.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Definatley Search engine optimisation, if you dont rank in Google or Yahoo then your are really missing out.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have just launched Rooms in York this year and i will continue to run and develop the site for as long as it is making a profit!

What is your website address?

Rooms in York
