Please give us a short summary of your website?
The Lake Harmony Vacation Homes located in Lake Harmony, Pa, are easily accessible from a multitude of different major interstates (5 miles from Exit 95 of the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike or PA’S 284 of Interstate 80 and only two hours from New York City).
These properties are spectacular Mountain View homes and are situated on 5 acre mountain lots in Northeastern Pennsylvania. They are great vacation getaways for family gatherings, weddings, anniversary and birthday celebrations, company retreats or even a boxing training camp. All three properties are located right next door to each other, making them excellent rentals for special events that need larger accommodations within walking distance.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I wanted to reach a broader range of potential clients. I had been depending solely, on word of mouth and paper advertising and this was the next step.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our website was launched almost 2 years ago but we have recently begun updating and integrating a more user-friendly site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Lake Harmony Vacation Homes fits our homes perfectly. Those customers looking for Pocono Mountain vacation rentals will find Lake Harmony a beautiful area for rest and relaxation.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Our website offers detailed descriptions of our homes and the surrounding attractions.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our goal is to continually improve our website exposure offering a spectacular service for our customers.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Building a business is an ongoing process. I feel we have benefited from reaching our online audience and am pleased with the time and investment.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would do more paid advertising.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Just trying to get the work done from consultants who don't deliver.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been learning the different ways to get exposure.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Site submission and link exchange.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It is much harder than I originally thought it would be.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I will keep this site running indefinitely. I feel reaching those potential customers, gaining more exposure and getting the word out will pay off in the future.
