Kathy Gianova Vacation in Kure Beach, North Carolina Interview

By Interviewer at 09/08/07 15:19

What is your name?

Kathy Gianova

City?

Kure Beach

Where are you from?

I'm from the central part of North Carolina, near the capital (Raleigh).

What was the cost of your trip?

The cost of the trip was about $2500 give or take. That basically covered the house we rented and the meals.

How long did it take to get there? (The flight over, plus the time to get to the place you enjoyed so much.)

Well we just had to drive so it wasn't bad at all. It was approximately 2 1/2 hours.

Describe this place. What details made is such a unique experience?

Well we usually don't "splurge" when we go to the beach, but this time we rented a place on the beach and had a lot family come down and well we just loved it. We actually rented two houses next to each other (yes we had a lot of family come down), and the place had a pool, a hot tub, and many nice things. The kids got to fish for the first time and actually ended up catching one which we never expected.

How have pictures or videos from it helped you remember it? Do you keep a picture on your desk or in your bedroom?

Yes we have a picture of zack holding a little catfish that he caught. I think his grin is bigger than the fish, but still its adorable.

Will you go back there again, or is the memory too perfect to risk tarnishing it by a second visit with unrealistic expectations?

oh yes definitely. This beach wasn't really crowded, and that made it easy to spread out and have catches and horseshoes and a lot of other things. The kids are still talking about it a month later.

How have you told people about it, and how have you encouraged people to go there themselves?

Well my whole family was there, so they know already! But yes ive mentioned it to neighbors and other women I work with at the library. I'm not sure if they'll go down or not, but they may.

Who were you with when you had this experience, and did they share in seeing it as an unforgettable moment?

We had our kids, three of my sisters and their families as well. So 16 people in all (7 adults, 9 children). it was great because the kids just played at the pool or beach all day and it was easy to keep them in a controlled area.

What will you do in the future to try to top this experience?

God i have no idea. We'll have to work on that one I think. Ask me next year!
