A New Zealand Travel Guide Interview

By Interviewer at 12/12/07 22:50

Name of your website?

A New Zealand Travel Guide

Your name?

postmaster

Your Location (city, etc)

Havelock North

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A New Zealand travel guide or Aotearoa 'Maori' meaning 'Land of the long white cloud' gives you the inside travel guide on New Zealand a land of...

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Love of New Zealand and passing information on to others

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first web-site launched this year 2007 'all about New Zealand'

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name of the web-site was a really hard work and even now I am not sure that I have got it right, however building a brand name rather than SEO is more important to me as a BRAND is long term!

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I wanted to make a travel guide that was informed and free to all not like some other well know travel guides that are just links for book sales. The depth of the site at 64 pages and will could end-up at at least double that.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would like one day to expand the web-site into other countries such as ??? planet etc... but remain with the consept that all information is free and can be down loaded.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Not that good, time is the biggest problem taking 24/7 and as for money WHERE!

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I don't think I would change the idea or concept however like govt dept I could speed up the development.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

NO! need help!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

SEO and the miles of mis-information out there WOW thats hard work

What has been your biggest challenge?

holding down a full time job and giving time to JustPlusNewZealnd

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Links

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Its been a great learning curve which has been great fun, everyday I learn something else and that keeps me going.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The Site from first concept to now has been 12 months, i don't know how much longer I will continue how long is a piece of string!

Would I do it again?

YES YES YES its been great fun and a fantastic learning curve.

What is your website address?
