Luxury Resorts of Maldives Interview

By Interviewer at 02/04/09 07:43

Name of your website?

Luxury Resorts of Maldives

Your name?

Mohamed Riyaz

Your Location (city, etc)

Male

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Luxury Resorts of Maldives offers a wide range of luxury holiday packages from the best, exclusive resorts, hotels and liveaboards in the Maldives.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

A lot of websites around the world has lots of online clients which doesn't even come close to what Maldives online websites have. I always wanted a successful online business and the fact that Maldives is a great destination for tourists, it made me believe that I can make a travel website work.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

It was mid January 2009.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It was one of my business partners who had this great domain name, and wanted to work on a travel website as much as I did. Just like in the domain name, we decided to name the website Luxury Resorts of Maldives, and it really says all what we do.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I guess there aren't much businesses here in Maldives or abroad who cater for the up market. We have a selection of all luxury resorts, hotels and liveaboards here in Maldives.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would like to make this website a competitor of the bests out there. So I guess I want to keep it for income.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Right now, the website is running on trial. So far we have had a great response as we have aimed at diversifying the client base as much as possible. Anyway it's too soon to say this is totally successful but it's safe to say that it's improving.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Even now I can change it if I wanted to as I'm the developer, but for now I'll keep it this way and if I have the choice of spending the development budget on marketing, I would do so, and with an unlimited budget I bet we can grow really big really fast.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Sure, we already have distributed our work among us, the three partners and if we need an employ, it wouldn't be a problem to get one right away. In fact we are planning to get one really soon.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

The only problem is the marketing budget. Right now we are trying to spend as little as possible and try to manage with the money we earn.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I would say marketing. Pay per click is effective, but costly. Sometimes there are really good clicks and sometimes really bad. Creating good ads is the greatest challenge I've ever faced.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Pay per click. Nothing is more effective than that.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I thought I would get a good response from submitting URL to website for free, but believe me, you won't get any response.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I've been running the website for only a month and as I've said before, we have had an incredible response. And as we're on a trial run for the next 6 months, even we don't get a good income after that period, I'm planning to keep it going, but won't spend on marketing too much.

What do you have to say to anyone interested in your work?

I would say that anyone is welcome to go through my website, even other agents throughout the world, and if interested in collaboration, I would be happy to join.

What is your website address?
