PrimaryRentals.com Interview

By Interviewer at 09/05/07 13:17

Name of your website?

PrimaryRentals.com

Your name?

Paddy Bolger

Your Location (city, etc)

Dublin

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Online holiday accommodation booking system

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Frustration with existing holiday accommodation portals which were enquiry based and required a lot of work

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

1996 - www.netvillage.co.uk web development company

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Searched for lots of variations which described the business well

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Online availability and booking, deep penetration of resorts with huge choice for the user

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To cover every major resort in the world

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

25 hours a day, but we are getting there!

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I have a long list of development projects which I am gradually introduing. Given unlimited budget I would do them all now and employ more people in research to specify a more complete system. I would also introduce an auction-based system for late availability

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes as it is very automated

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Costs - Google PPC is more expensive than I expected Headaches - getting landlords to update their calendar quickly

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting landlords to update their calendars

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Google PPC and landlord referrals

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Not much really - landlord tak-up is probably a bit slower than I expected but once we reach critical mass in a resort it is much better than I expected

How long have you run the site if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

8 months Will never give up!

What gives you most prid about the site?

We are making a real difference. Tenants love the site, the quantity and quality of properties and the ease of booking. Landlords love the bookings!

What is your website address?
