Are you up for an adventurous vacation? Iraq is getting considerably more peaceful nowadays (though are still cases of bombing, I admit). There are now actually tourist operators in the Kurdish regions of the area! A roundtrip flight to Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, will cost you $2000, but I'm sure it's all worth it once you indulge yourself in this cultural tour. Visas are available at the airport, by the way.
