The Blue House Interview

By Interviewer at 08/31/09 17:27

Name of your website?

The Blue House

Your name?

Vivian

Your Location (city, etc)

Copenhagen suburb Charlottenlund

Why The Blue House?

If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, you’ve found it. The blue house is a unique family home for rent. Not only do you rent a home, you get a lovely neighborhood at no extra cost.

The house from 1912 is located on a child-friendly street in the suburb called Charlottenlund. There are 3 international schools just a 5-minute drive away (or 12 minutes by bike). A short walking distance away is the beautiful Charlottenlund Castle and gardens, the beach park and wooded recreational area to the east. To the west, a short walk away is the lovely Bernstorff Park and Castle. Also in walking distance are the indoor swimming pools of Kildeskovhallen. And the local riding school is down the block and around the corner.

The blue house is a great place to live.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We wanted to showcase the house and not be limited by traditional web listings. Pictures play a large part on the site and help to convey The Blue House's charm. Each floor of the house has its own slideshow. It's true -- pictures are worth a thousand words

What makes The Blue House so special?

Light, wood, fire and air. These are the essential elements of the house. Natural light floods every floor. The fireplace between the dining and living rooms warms the heart of the house. Every floor is covered in wood. The first floor bathroom fixtures are the organic designs by Ross Lovegrove (designer of Apple computers) complemented by aromatic cedar wood floors. An antique Japanese cyprus staircase leads to the glass bridge that joins the 2 loft rooms. There are surprising details on every floor.

Why the color blue?

The color is a very special blue used often on buildings by the sea. I believe it is a special blue most seen in the Scandinavian countries. The Blue House is unique on its suburban block which primarily has white houses. And most importantly, it reflects the color of my husband's eyes :-)

What makes The Blue House different from other rentals?

It is a home that begs you to kick off your shoes, take a deep breath and relax. A warm and inviting safe haven.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We would like to rent our house to a family with children. It is a house that is meant to be "lived" in.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Our house was loving renovated in 2007 and we intend to keep it for a long time. At the same time, we crave something new in our lives. Our kids are pretty big now and we would like to live in the city for a while. So, we are not renting the house for a profit. It is more important to us who rents the house. A happy laughing family would be the ultimate successful renter.
