Name of your website?

Rooms for Beijing Olympic Games

Your name?

Helen

Your Location (city, etc)

Beijing

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This website is to assist those who would be travelling to Beijing for the Olympic Games to find cheaper accommodation in the city. Hotel bookings are hard to make and are now 10-15 times greater than the usual rates.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I own 4 apartments in the city and 3 of them are on lease but the lease end in June this year. I wanted to offer a place to stay for travellers to Beijing in support of the Olympics.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first website was just a usual blog on MSN. It was more like a diary about the events of my life.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Mine is more personal compared to companies (real estate agents) who act as middle men between those wanting to sublet and those looking for accommodation.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

At the moment, my plan is to keep it.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have received several inquiries in the past and confirmed a few bookings already.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I will put up more graphic effects and

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, it's my full-time job actually. I run a business out of it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None related to maintaiing the website so far.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The challenge is to get people to be able to search for it when they use search engines.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I guess it is the name you have for the site and the content.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I thought it would be a difficult task with lots of IT related knowledge but it was very very easy.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I've started this only recently. About two weeks ago. I will keep it until the end of the year if business is alright. I will also most likely further develop it into a more tourism-like website.

What would I do with the proceeds from this website?

Further develop the website and the business. The rest to non-profit organization that promotes tourism and environmental cause.

What is your website address?
