Name of your website?

MissionBeachRentals.Net

Your name?

Brendan Heath

Your Location (city, etc)

San Diego

Please give us a short summary of your website?

MissionBeachRentals.Net is your local connection to San Diego Beach and Vacation Rentals.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

My wife and I have always been beach people, so managing vacation rentals was a natural fit. We realized that by providing a great rate, and personal service to our guests that they would come back to us year after year.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Our first website was launched in 2004. To be honest, it was a homemade disaster!

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We were so happy with the domain name that we got, we actually named the company after it!

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We offer the personal touches that sometimes get lost when dealing with the bigger companies.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We are plannnig on running it until retirement!

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Our time vs. money for the first couple of years was not balancing. The past three years has been gradual growth, while our time commitment has remained steady.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

More advertising! It is the name of the game in the Vacation Rentals industry.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Website revisions were more expensive than we had thought.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Scaling our growth

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Honestly, craigslist

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It was a real challenge to get online, and the constant attention was unexpected.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We've been running it for a year, and plan to for the future.

What is your website address?
