Alaska Bear Mountain Lodge Interview

By Interviewer at 04/01/08 16:00

Name of your website?

Alaska Bear Mountain Lodge

Your name?

Alaska Bear Mountain Lodge

Your Location (city, etc)

Lodge is located at Chinitna Bay, 60 miles west from Homer, Alaska

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This website promotes Guided Bear Viewing Tours into one of the most scenic locations in Alaska. The Lodge is remote and therefore accesible only by air and boat. The Tours are into Lake Clark National Park, known for it's great bear viewing opportunities.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

It always much easy to say to someone - ooo check our website - it has all the information, and if you have any questions - email us, we will be happy to help..

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

That is our first website

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name of the website is the name of our company and Lodge. It represents Alaska(our place), Mountain(we are at a base of Mount Iliamna), Bear(bears are everywhere) and Lodge(our lodging facilities)

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The idea of viewing the most majestic predator(the Brown Bear) in their own untouched habitat. The idea of doing that, ways in the wilderness and yet enjoying the maximum of the Modern Lodging.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To have this as a family bussiness for the generations to come, as we consider Alaska to be one the last places on Earth to be able to remain untouched by human civilisation.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Lots of time and money invested = bigger success. That is univercal :)

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We would create a social network for people interested in Bear Viewing or planning trips in Alaska.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes for certain.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Page rankng was the fist headache, the outsourcing of the website and updates on it would be unexpected cost too.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Creating the website.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Direct promotions, blogs and travel forums.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Its not a miracle thing - you have to work on it daily and sometimes 24 hours a day.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We are planing big gains in traffic, income and popularity - so we will keep on working.

What is your website address?
